Raptors Helping Raptors
A hands-on school project introducing students to birds of prey and local conservation.
About the Project
Students at Rockland School took part in a practical conservation project focused on local kestrels. Working with International Heritage Conservancy, they built nest boxes intended for placement in the community.
The project combined hands-on learning with opportunities to learn about birds of prey and their conservation.

Education Across Borders
Craig Hendee, then director of International Heritage Conservancy, visited the school with a peregrine falcon and spoke with students about raptors.
The school project received support through a mini-grant from Partners for Excellence in Education.
Results
Students built nest boxes and took part in an educational visit. The sources reviewed do not provide follow-up data on how many boxes were installed or whether the project affected the local kestrel population.
